Combined Training 1st April

AREA 10 COMBINED TRAINING
We have two teams entered for this competition ( dressage and show jumping) at Felbridge on 1st April. Although each team needs to provide only one helper, this is for the whole day so....... if we could field more helpers everyone only has to do a short time. Could you help ? Duties could be supervising the car park, putting up show jumps ( we'll try really hard not to knock them down), taking dictation from the dressage judge, collecting score sheets and anything else that helps the event run smoothly. A good opportunity to support Invicta riders and learn more about combined training. It might even tempt you to have a go next time. Please email Penny  pennyhaynes14@gmail.com

Sunday 12 March 2017

Congratulations to Team Invicta at the Willow Farm show jumping today. 4 clear rounds and 3rd place ! Well Done Lynda Kyne, emma Forster, Shelley Andrews and Rachel Brett.

AGM Chair's Report 2016

Chair’s Report 2016
2016 has been a busy and successful year.  We have held training clinics or events almost every week of the year ( except Christmas of course) and all our clinics and events have been well attended. We have held training clinics for all disciplines and all levels of rider and have been delighted to see so many members having a good time with their horses. In addition we have begun group dog walks which have been great fun too..
To keep you informed of events we have opened a Facebook page and judging by the number of people we are reaching, this is successful. If you have a Facebook page just search for Invicta Riding Club and “like” the page, you will then get notifications every time something new is added.
As you are reading this on the website you will see that Nick Onslow has set up a Blog for us. I will put Newsletters and other information on here as well as on the Facebook page. Events will also be on the google calendar on the website.
Our post Christmas meal at the Hop Pocket was great fun and the pub coped admirably with us all.
Our committee has been working hard again this year, organising clinics, events and team competitions. In addition I would like to thank Jane Elwell who organises the club morning at Chilham and Fiona Walker who arranges the clinics with Maria Draper. Each year four committee members reach the end of their 3 year service term and this year it is Ali Brown, Lynda Kyne, Miranda Kelly and Olivia Dixon. Happily they are all willing to stand again so unless there are any further nominations they will be re-elected to serve until 2020 !
Emma Forster has organised our dressage teams again this year and we have had some success, recently we had two teams at a friendly competition and came 3rd and 4th.
Lynda Kyne has given this report of the show jumping at Kent Show and the Eventers Challenge at Blenheim. Both Lynda and Miranda have organised and competed in show jumping and Horse Trials teams.
Kent County Show Jumping Team consisted of Angie Platts, Emma Payne, Miranda Kelly and Lynda Kyne. The height of fences 95cm and the course is a set of 12 rustic fences in the West Ring at Kent County Show on Saturday. There is always a large turnout of teams for this class with a number of clubs entering A, B & C teams so it went on quite late. The first team member of each team goes first then waits for 2nd, 3rd & 4th members to jump. It isn’t compulsory to wait especially when the last to go was about 7pm!! Anyway our 1st round had 12 faults which is the score we dropped, followed by our second rider with 8 faults, 3rd rider with 4 faults and the final round went clear which put us in the ribbons at 5th place. We were thrilled despite the late presentation.

Blenheim Palace Riding Club Eventers Challenge. This was our first ever entry at this event. It was over a track of 90cm show jumping and cross country fences and was a twisty course negotiating your way around trees with an optimum time. There were 45 teams entered and the same team as Kent Show went along - some of us staying overnight with friends or family and making a weekend of it. The team finished 18th out of 45 which we think was a great result. The winning team were clear and spot on the optimum time. Our team score was 12 faults with 2 members going clear. It was a great day and we are thankful to Joss Hubble our Chef D’Equip for her support and encouragement and to Invicta for the opportunity to compete at these prestigious events. We have Invicta cross country colours and members can order these through Lynda for wearing as part of the team or when competing as an individual.

Redhorse dressage points rosettes : Sue Barradell runs Redhorse Dressage competitions at Willow Farm and presents rosettes to the highest placed Invicta member in each class. During the year Sue keeps a points score and the results are :- 1st Kathryn Ovenden (74 points), 2nd Jennifer Neaves ( 30 points),            3rd Chris Kjelstrup ( 25 points), 4th Andy Bithell (19 points), 5th Sue Gray ( 13 points ) and 6th Lucy Fagg, ( 4 points).
Invicta cups / trophies
Most Improved rider  Paul Tee,  Most Team appearances   Hannah Cook
Volunteer’s award  Jennet Fisher,  Contribution to the Club   Jane Elwell

The AGM continued with a lecture/demo from Kate Haynes on Equipilates, what it is and how we can use it to improve both ourselves and our horse. Kate gave us exercises to try so we all practised pelvic tilts before tucking into the buffet !

Sidesaddle day

🌹🌹SIDE SADDLE DAY 🌹🌹
The annual side saddle association get together at Idenborough, to chat about anything side saddle related, is on Saturday 25th February from 11.30-2.30.

This year we been asked to put the emphasis on side saddle 'costume' classes which are increasingly popular.  So we have invited two speakers to deliver short talks on
'a competitors eye view' and 'a judges eye view',  Elizabeth Roberts and Pippa Doran, both experienced side saddle devotees.

As usual, side saddles, costumes, hats, habits and other related attire will be on view with plenty of knowledgable people coming to answer your questions. There will be lunch for all and the round table chatter is almost always the best bit! Ring or email if you have any questions meanwhile. Jrjg88@gmail.com 07774967785 and to book in.
Numbers are limited so book early,  It costs just £8 for non members of the Side saddle Association.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Jennifer Roberts
